Comprehensive Training Program In Implant Dentistry On 25 - 27th
March, 2004
Beirut Arab University
Advances in
all areas of Implant Dentistry are occurring at an unprecedented pace. Many
current weekend Implant courses cover the how to do
quite well, but neglect the whys. With the current climate it
is important that all practitioners, especially those starting out in Implant
Dentistry, become knowledgeable in all areas of Implantology. This course is a
must for all general dentists, periodontists, prosthodontists, and oral
surgeons who want to achieve proficiency in the broad field of Implant
Dentistry.
Topics will include: Anatomy, Radiology, Diagnosis and
Treatment planning, Pharmacology, Implant Surgery and implant Prosthodontics.
Lectures will be held in Exhibition Hall B1 at Beirut Arab
University (Engineering Building), and training sections will be held in the
Laboratories and clinical facilities of the Faculty of Dentistry..

First Day 25/03/2004:
1st Session:
History and Types of Dental Implants
Overview on different types of
Dental Implants, before and after osseointegration
2nd Session:
Medical Evaluation
Includes medical history, indications and contra
indications for implant surgery, medications used and post operative
instruction and care.
3rd Session: Dental evaluation and Review of
Anatomy related to Dental Implant
Includes clinical examinations, study
models and radiographic study. A special focus will be on models of resorption
of alveolar ridge that is related directly to implant surgery and prosthesis.
Second Day
26/03/2004:
1st Session: Prosthetic Considerations before
Surgery
Includes the fabrication of different types of surgical stents.
Demonstration for stent fabrication will take place where participants will
handle both vacupress stents and acrylic stents.
2nd Session:
Implant Surgery
Includes two-stage surgery, one-stage surgery, direct
post extraction implant surgery, immediate loading and temporary implants.
Adjunct procedures will be discussed including bone grafts, internal and
external sinus lift.
3rd Session: Prosthetic Considerations after
Surgery
Includes methods of temporization, finished prosthesis and
implant retained over dentures
Third Day 27/03/2004:
1st Session: Hand-on Training
Laboratory
Demonstration of placing dummy implants in artificial maxilla will take place.
Each participant will have the opportunity to check the reliability of the
taper lock joint when connecting the abutment to the implant.
2nd
Session: Live Surgery with Live Transmission
Participants will observe
live surgeries covering the first and second stage surgeries. Surgeries will be
transmitted from the implant surgical room at the faculty of dentistry to the
lecture hall.
